An increased social and economic demand on small families due to aging is also common. According to Xinhua the national press agency of china china have paid a lot of political and social cost for this policy but still it resulted in social conflict, high administrative cost and let to gender imbalance too(Xinhua, 2012). My reaction to this one child policy is that they should not make it very strict at the starting. Slavery in America stems well back to when the new world was first discovered and was led by the country to start the African Slave Trade-Portugal. The African Slave Trade was first exploited for plantations in the Caribbean, and eventually reached the southern coasts of America. The African natives were of all ages and sexes. Women usually worked in the homes cooking and cleaning, while men were sent out into the plantations to farm. Young girls would usually help in the house also and young boys would help in the farm by bailing hay and loading wagons with crops. They were shipped from Africa by the Europeans, "The Triangular Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade". This was an organized route where Europeans would travel to Africa bringing manufactured goods, capture Africans and take them to the Caribbean, and then take the crops and goods and bring them back to Europe. The African people, in order to communicate invented a language that was a mixture of all the African languages combined,called Creole. They also kept their culture which accounts for calypso music and the instruments used in these songs. Slavery was common all over the world until 1794 when France signed the Act of the National Convention abolishing slavery. It would take America about a hundred years to do the same. George Washington, America's first president, was also a slave owner. He deplored slavery but did not release his slaves. Washington wasn't the only president to have slaves. Thomas Jefferson wrote;"All men are created equal" but died leaving his blacks in slavery. In 1775 black Americans were sent to fight in the revolutionary army. The British proposed that if a black man was to join their army, they would be set free afterwards. America originally planned not to let the blacks fight in the army, but when hearing this, let them enlist. Only Georgia and South Carolina refused to let them enlist, but paid for their racism when each lost 25,000 blacks to the British. The slaves returned on an honourable discharge after securing America's freedom, but not their own. Slavery continued and so did the numbers of slaves trying to escape to the free states or into Canada. A runaway slave would be found by bloodhounds, trained to find black slaves. It is in human nature to have a few people that do not understand or possibly hate those who are different but, in fact, we are not different, we are judgmental and we are discriminatory, we segregate. Words such as â€Å"annihilate†, â€Å"bereavement† and â€Å"rejection† are used to force his audience to experience how it feels to live without â€Å"permanent peace based on justice†. The repetition of the phrase emphasizes that this idea is one of his key concepts, and also allows the phrase to be brought up again in the audiences mind allowing the concept to ‘sink in’. Sadat also uses accumulation, structuring his arguments as â€Å"the first fact†, â€Å"the fifth fact† etc, and later, when stating his conditions for peace he uses â€Å"first, second, third†. This technique allows his audience to better follow his train of thought and clearly understand how he has come to these conclusions and making his argument seem more logical and correct. Also, by stating his arguments as a â€Å"fact† he gives them more authority. Lastly, Sadat uses imagery to portray two possible futures. One is of â€Å"the ruins of what mankind has built and the remains of the victims of mankind†; the other is of â€Å"a smile on the face of every child born on our land†. By juxtaposing such extreme vision Sadat forces his audience to agree with his pint by appealing to a common goal of a better future. Sadat ensures his audience remembers the idea of â€Å"permanent peace based on justice† by employing a number of rhetorical devices to ensure they both understand and agree with the idea.

He expresses how it’s all right to talk about medical differences: such as blacks having a higher incidence of hypertension than whites except it’s taboo to talk about racial differences in athletic abilities. Malcolm Gladwell starts out his essay by writing what whites are supposed to be good at and what blacks are supposed to be good at. â€Å"In football, whites play quarterback and blacks play running back; in baseball whites pitch and blacks play the outfield.† (135) He gives all these ideas and reasons as to why blacks seem to have better athletic identity and even he himself appears to believe that if you are white, you stand no chance. On page 136 he says, â€Å"It was as if I saw his whiteness as a degenerative disease, which would eventually claim and cripple him.† I think that in this paragraph, Gladwell demonstrates how stereotypes work and how much they influence your thinking. If this is the case, then the reason you notice less white people excelling in sports could be because they them selves are influenced by the stereotype that they will never be good enough. I agree with Gladwell’s thoughts on stereotyping and how much people are affected by it. He also makes an example of this when comparing boys and girls. Gladwell writes that their differences in math scores could be because society expects boys to do better. This is true because society has a huge influence on people and their thinking. For example: why don’t many girls become engineers and boys become nurses? I think that, after reading the entire essay, Gladwell believes there is more than one factor that contributes to great athletic ability. One of them is genetics. â€Å"According to the medical evidence, African-Americans seem to have, on the average, greater bone mass than do white Americans-a difference that suggests greater muscle mass.† (p137) I totally agree that genes have something to do with it, but it’s not the only factor. Another factor that contributes to athletic ability is effort. Gladwell writes how athletic success depends on the individual and their desire to be the best. I believe that this is the most important factor and if you want something enough, you will put your all into it and try so much more than someone who doesn’t have the will. Gladwell gives a great example at the end of his essay. He describes a time when he was running with two of his buddies and then one day his buddies’ decided to run straight up Signal Hill backwards. â€Å"What I do know is that such questions were irrelevant, because, as I realized, they were willing to go to far greater lengths to develop their talent.
